Earning Points and Status Credits will allow you to maintain or upgrade your Velocity status level.

How many Status credits will i earn?

Earn Status Credits when you travel in an eligible class on Delta Air Lines or Delta Connection branded carrier operated flights, with a DL or VA flight number. The Status Credits you earn will depend on where you fly and fare purchased.

HOW MANY VELOCITY POINTS WILL I EARN?

Earn Points per mile flown when you travel in an eligible class on Delta Air Lines or a Delta Connection branded carrier operated flights, with a DL or VA flight number1.

The number of Velocity Points you earn with Delta is based on the fare class and the number of miles you are travelling, so the higher your fare type, the more Points you earn. ​​​​​​

What is a VA flight number?  A VA flight number is a flight where the marketing carrier is Virgin Australia. Your flight number will be listed as VA followed by a set of numbers (e.g. VA 024). You can book a flight with a VA flight number on the Virgin Australia website.

Platinum, Gold and Silver members travelling on an Delta Air Lines operated flight with a VA flight number, earn a Points bonus on miles flown in addition to the Base Points4 earned. Silver members earn 50% bonus Points; Gold members earn 75% bonus Points and Platinum members earn 100% bonus Points on top of the base Points rate.

What is a DL flight number?  A DL flight number is a flight where the marketing carrier is Delta Air Lines. Your flight number will be listed as DL followed by a set of numbers (e.g. DL 024). You can book a flight with a DL flight number on the Delta Air Lines website.

To ensure you earn Velocity Points make sure you enter your Velocity membership number when making your booking or call the delta Air Lines contact centre directly or present you Velocity membership card at check in.

Velocity Points and Status Credits cannot be earned on:​​​​
- Reward Seat bookings
- Fare classes other than as specified above
- Codeshare flights (any flight with a DL flight number that is operated by an airline other than Delta, a Delta connection branded carrier or Virgin Australia).
- Upgraded fares: Members travelling on upgraded fares that were purchased with Points or by bidding for an upgrade will earn as per the rules of the original fare class purchased.

Claim Missing Points

To ensure you automatically earn Velocity Points on your eligible travel, add your Velocity membership number to your booking prior to travel. You can add your Velocity membership number when you book your flight or call the airline directly to get it added to your booking or present your Velocity membership card at check-in.
It can take up to 14 days after your flight for your Points to be added to your Account.

Flown recently and missing some Points?

If your Points have not been credited after 14 days, or if you forgot to add your Velocity membership number prior to travelling, you can submit a missing Points claim by logging into your Velocity Account and following the steps provided.

Submit a Missing Points Claim

  • 1. Earn rates are correct as at 28 May 2018 and are subject to change. Flights are governed by the operating carrier's terms and conditions, which can be viewed on the operating carrier's websites. Members travelling on Upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of Upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Points based on originally purchased fare classes. Check the Velocity Terms and Conditions for details about earning Points.

    2. Members who travel on Delta Air Lines Comfort+ S class will earn 1.25 Velocity Points per mile from 7 June 2019. Prior to this date Delta Air Lines marketed class S was classified as Economy Class and Members earned 1 Velocity Points per mile. 

    3. Members who travel on Delta Air Lines Premium Select (P, A, G classes) will earn 1.25 Velocity Points per mile from 16 April 2019. Prior to this date Delta Air Lines marketed classes P, A, G were classified as First Class and Members earned 2 Velocity Points per mile. 

    4. Base Points refers to the minimum number of Points that can be earned for an eligible activity or transaction by a Red member.
