How many Points will I earn?

Earn Points per mile flown when you travel in an eligible class on SilkAir operated flights with a SQ, MI or VA flight number1.

The number of Velocity Points you earn with SilkAir is based on the fare class and the number of miles you are traveling, so the higher your fare class, the more Points you earn.

Q. What is a VA flight number?
A. A VA flight number is a flight where the marketing carrier is Virgin Australia. Your flight number will be listed as VA followed by a set of numbers (e.g. VA024). You can book a flight with a VA flight number on the Virgin Australia website.

Earn more with Status

Platinum, Gold and Silver members travelling on a SilkAir operated flight with a VA flight number, earn a Points bonus on miles flown in addition to the Base Points3 earned. Silver members will receive an additional 50% bonus Points, while Gold members will receive an additional 75% bonus Points and Platinum members an additional  100% bonus Points.

SilkAir operated flight with a SQ or MI flight number

Q. What is a SQ/MI flight number? 
A. An SQ/MI flight number is a flight where the marketing carrier is SilkAir or Singapore Airlines. Your flight number will be listed as SQ/MI followed by a set of numbers (e.g. SQ 024). You can book a flight with a SQ/MI flight number on the Singapore Airlines website.

To ensure you earn Velocity Points make sure you enter your Velocity membership number when making your booking or call the Singapore Airlines contact centre directly or present your My Velocity Card at check in.


Velocity Points cannot be earned on:

  • Reward Seat bookings
  • Fares classes other than as specified in tables above
  • Any SilkAir flight where KrisFlyer miles have been used as form of payment irrespective of the fare class flown
  • Codeshare flights (Any flight with an MI flight number that is operated by an airline other than Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or Virgin Australia)

Claim missing Points

To ensure you automatically earn Velocity Points on your eligible travel, add your Velocity membership number to your booking prior to travel. You can add your Velocity membership number when you book your flight or call the airline directly to get it added to your booking or present your Velocity membership card at check-in.

Please note that it can it can take up to 14 days after your flight for your Points to be added to your Account.

Flown recently and missing some Points?
If your Points have not been credited after 14 days, or if you forgot to add your Velocity membership number prior to travelling, you can submit a missing Points claim by logging into your Velocity Account and following the steps provided.

Terms & Conditions:

1. Earn rates are correct as at 28 May 2018 and are subject to change. Flights are governed by the operating carrier's terms and conditions, which can be viewed on the operating carrier's websites. Members travelling on Upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of Upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Points based on originally purchased fare classes. Check the Velocity Terms and Conditions for details about earning Points.

2. Members who travelled on Singapore Airlines marketed R class fares are ineligible for earn for travel prior to 1 September 2018. Members who travelled on Singapore Airlines marketed L class fares will earn 1.0 Velocity Points per mile and Premium Economy Status Credits for travel from 1 July 2019. Prior to this date, Singapore Airlines marketed L class was classified as Economy Lite and members earned 0.1 Velocity Points per mile and Economy Lite Status Credits.

3. Base Points refers to the minimum number of Points that can be earned for an eligible activity or transaction by a Red member.
