HOW MANY VELOCITY POINTS WILL I EARN?

VIRGIN AUSTRALIA DOMESTIC FLIGHTS

Velocity members earn 5 Velocity Points per $1 spent on all eligible Domestic fares3, so the higher your fare type, the more Points you earn.

Domestic flights flown as part of a Trans-Tasman or International Short Haul journey earn at the same rate as domestic standalone journeys.
Domestic flights flown as part of an International journey will earn based on the fare class and number of miles flown.

Platinum, Gold and Silver members also earn a Points bonus in addition to the Base Points4 earned. Silver members will receive an additional 50% Points; Gold members will receive an additional 75% Points; and Platinum members will receive an additional 100% Points.
The Points bonus does not apply to Domestic Getaway fares.

VIRGIN AUSTRALIA TRANS-TASMAN AND
INTERNATIONAL SHORT HAUL FLIGHTS

Virgin Australia Trans-Tasman includes all flights between Australia and New Zealand. 
​​​​​​​Virgin Australia International Short Haul includes all international flights from Australia to Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu.

Velocity members earn 5 Velocity Points per $1 spent on all eligible Trans-Tasmanand International Short Haul fares6, so the higher your fare type, the more Points you earn.

Virgin Australia International Long Haul includes flights to Hong Kong and Los Angeles with a VA flight number operated by Virgin Australia.

When travelling on Virgin Australia International Long Haul flights, you will earn Velocity Points based on:

  • your fare class, and 
  • the number of the miles flown.

VELOCITY POINTS AND STATUS CREDITS CANNOT BE EARNED ON:

  • A flight where the membership number entered is not the membership number of the passenger travelling
  • Reward Seat bookings, excluding Any Seat
  • Any fare class that is not listed above
  • Upgraded fares: Members travelling on upgraded fares that are purchased with Points, Upgrade Me Platinum Member Offer, Upgrade Me Premium Bids or using cash at the airport will earn Points based on the fare class originally purchased.

CLAIM MISSING POINTS

It can take up to 14 days after your flight for your Points to be added to your Account.
If your Points have not been credited after 14 days, or if you forgot to add your Velocity membership number prior to travelling, you can submit a missing Points claim by logging into your Velocity Account and following the steps provided.

  • 1. A codeshare flight is a Flight that is operated by one airline with a flight number of another airline. For example, a flight with a VA flight number, but the aircraft is operated by a different airline.

    2. Status Credits cannot be earned on all fare classes. Status Credits can only be earned on eligible flights, marketed and operated by Virgin Australia and/or a Velocity airline partner. Status Credits cannot be earned on flights operated by Air Canada (AC) with an AC flight number. Find out which fare classes earn Status Credits. Status Credits cannot be earned in other fare classes, unless advised otherwise. Status Credits accrual is based on single flight segments that consist of individual flight numbers. An itinerary that involves a change in aircraft but retains the same flight number is considered a single flight segment. An itinerary that consists of a change in flight numbers, even if the same aircraft is used for the entire itinerary, is considered two flight segments. Domestic flights booked within an International journey will accrue Status Credits at the earn level for international flights. Members travelling on upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Status Credits based on original purchased fare class.

    3. An eligible domestic flight is a flight operated by Virgin Australia with a VA flight number. Earn rates are correct as at 28 May 2018 and are subject to change. Check the Velocity Terms and Conditions for details about earning Points.

    4. Base Points refers to the minimum number of Points that can be earned for an eligible activity or transaction by a Red member.

    5. An eligible Trans-Tasman, International Short Haul flight, is a flight operated by Virgin Australia with a VA flight number. Earn rates are correct as at 28 May 2018 and are subject to change. Check the Velocity Terms and Conditions for details about earning Points.

    6. Where your Trans-Tasman or International Short Haul journey contains a flight operated by another airline that does not have a VA flight number, then that flight will be ineligible for Points earn.  All other flights in the journey operated by Virgin Australia with a VA flight number will earn Points per dollar spent. Where your Trans-Tasman or International Short Haul journey contains a flight with a VA flight number operated by a Velocity Partner Airline you will earn Points based on your fare class and the number of miles flown for the whole journey, including any flights operated by Virgin Australia.
    Flights purchased in New Zealand dollar (NZD) or other currency will earn Velocity Points based on the Australian dollar (AUD) equivalent spent.

    7. Certain fare classes may be ineligible for Points and Status Credits earn, as specified above. Various fare classes may not be available all year round and certain fare types will vary depending on the destination. Please check your itinerary is eligible to earn Points and Status Credits before completing your booking. If you are unable to determine your fare class please contact the Guest Contact Centre or your booking agent for assistance.

    • Members who travelled on Delta Airlines operated F and A class fares prior to 1 February 2018 will earn 1.5 Velocity Points per mile.
    • Virgin Australia operated flights sold with an Air Mauritius (MK) or a PNG Air (CG) flight number are ineligible to earn Velocity Points and Status Credits.

    8. Where a member travels on Virgin Australia flights that begin with a VA flight number (irrespective of whether the journey consists of domestic, international short haul or international long haul Flight Sectors), each Flight Sector will be considered an Eligible Sector.
